Michael F. Warren, M.D. completed his undergraduate studies in Biology from the Citadel Military College of South Carolina. Following his tenure at the Citadel, Dr. Warren served in the United States Air Force before returning to school to earn a Masters of Science degree in Microbiology and Biochemistry from North Carolina State University.
Dr Warren returned to Charleston to attend medical school and earned a Degree in Medicine at the Medical University of South Carolina. Dr. Warren completed two years of residency in General Surgery at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine at Chapel Hill/Wilmington, and completed three years of residency in Dermatology at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine.
Dr. Warren returned once again to South Carolina to practice medicine as an Attending Physician in the department of Dermatologic Surgery at the Ralph Johnson VA Hospital.
Dr. Warren was also a Clinical Instructor of Dermatology at the Medical University of South Carolina before he went into private practice.

Dr. Warren is the founding partner of Island Dermatology and specializes in Dermatologic skin disorders and Cosmetic Surgery. Dr. Warren has over 25 years of experience in the field of Dermatology. Dr. Warren has a special interest in the detection, prevention, and surgical removal of skin cancers. Dr Warren also specializes in the diseases of the skin, hair, and nails by using the most current treatment methods available to date. In addition, Dr. Warren also enjoys performing cosmetic surgery by utilizing state of the art medical laser devices.
Dr. Warren and the Inspiration behind Island Dermatology
Dr. Warren is an avid surfer — always in search of that “perfect wave” along Charleston’s coast-line. In fact, Dr. Warren has surfed some of the most famous breaks in the world, but he regards that Costa Rica is one of his favorite places to surf. Dr. Warren’s passion for surfing and the “Pura Vida” way of life is reflected in the decor at Island Dermatology.
Throughout Dr. Warren’s office, patients will discover his personal collection of photos, pictures, and maps of countries where he has surfed – all of which make the atmosphere at Island Dermatology feel as if one was visiting a tropical island! When dry and on land, Dr. Warren enjoys golfing, studying Genealogy, and he holds a Black Belt Degree in Kung-Fu. Dr. Warren and his wife, Shelley, currently live in Charleston, SC.
